Jan Żaroffe (1888 - 1952) sculptor associated with Krynica. He graduated from the "Kenar" school in Zakopane and the Higher School of Decorative Arts in Krakow. He carved in stone, made marble tombstones (including at the cemetery in Nowy Sącz). "Patria" - the luxurious hotel of Jan Kiepura, built in 1933, was arranged according to his design. For the World Cup in 1935, he made ice sculptures in Krynica. He is best known for his wood carvings.
