Zofia Poreyko (Porejko), family name Kajzerstein-Karżewska (1899-1996) Polish painter, the wife of the sculptor Władysław Władysław Poreyko (d, 1966). In the years 1923-35 studied as an unenrolled student at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts under Miłosz Kotarbiński, Mieczysław Kotarbiński, and Tadeusz Pruszkowski. During her studies, she received numerous awards and distinctions (in 1924, 1926, and annually from 1931 to 1935). From 1948 to 1950, she studied at the Faculty of Monument Conservation at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She was a member of the Fourth Group and the Block of Professional Visual Artists. She painted oil paintings, known today only by their titles, including: December 1914, Plein Air, Girl with a Dog (all 1936), A Vagabond's Dream (exhibited 1936), The Promenade in Kazimierz (1937), The Grand Marshal (exhibited 1937), Czorsztyn Castle (exhibited 1938), Sunbeam (exhibited 1939). She participated in the following exhibitions: Warsaw IPS 1936-38, Resursa Obywatelska 1937, TZSP 1938; Kraków TPSP 1939 and Rapperswil 1936 and London 1939 (New Burlington Gallery).
