Lionel Baes (Ostend 1839 - 1913 Elsene) - Belgian painter. He was the younger brother of Edgar Baes (1837-1909), also a painter. As a painter he produced portraits, still lifes, landscapes, but especially genre scenes with various subjects. He also executed decorative paintings in buildings, including in the theaters of Leuven and Namur. Lionel Baes also painted watercolors and created etchings. The subjects are the same as those of his oil paintings.
