Józef Mańkowski (1868-1915) studied at the Drawing School of the Odessa Society of Fine Arts with A.A. Popov and K.K. Konstandi, and at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg in the studios of A. Kuindzhi, and V.K. Makowski. From 1899 he taught drawing at the Warsaw Polytechnic Institute. He organized one exhibition - in 1913 at the TZSP in Warsaw, after exhibition artist burned down his studio.
