Jan Zdzisław Konopacki (Radom 1856 – 1894 Łowicz) painter, illustrator. From around 1872 he studied drawing and painting at the Drawing Class in Warsaw, and at the same time he studied in Wojciech Gerson's private studio. In 1875-78 he studied at the St. Petersburg Academy. In Paris, he was friends with Józef Chełmoński and Antoni Piotrowski, whom he had previously met in Gerson's studio. In 1882, probably in the fall, he came to Rome. He spent 10 months in Italy, painting landscapes and studies from nature. In 1883 he took part in an exhibition in Rome; his small painting displayed there was purchased by Queen Margaret, and the artist was introduced to her. Then he returned to Poland and opened a studio in Warsaw. He created mainly works on genre themes, landscapes, and portraits.
