Porcelain, hand painted plate, signed and described on the reverse. Diameter: 22 cm.

"Flora Danica" pattern was inspired by the model from the Royal Copenhagen factory. That series is considered to be one of the most prestigious for collectors from all over the world. It was designed at the request of Critian VII with the intention of presenting it as a gift to the Empress Catherine the Great. The production was undertaken by the Dutch porcelain painter Johann Christoph Bayer living in years 1738-1812. Long-lasting and labor-intensive work lasted since 1790 for 12 years. Motif of encyclopedic character of painted plants was inspired by botanical atlas, published from 1761 to 1883. It included vascular plants species found in the Kingdom of Denmark.
