Eugeniusz Urbański-Nieczuja (1877-1955) A painter. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, he is primarily known for his portraits of women. He typically depicted the subjects of his paintings against the backdrop of patterned stained glass or fabrics, and also replicated the motif of peacock feathers in his portraits. He also painted atmospheric genre scenes and idyllic landscapes. His work stylistically draws on Art Nouveau art through its decorativeness and linearism, and is rife with references to the paintings of E. Okuń. Eugeniusz Urbański's paintings were distributed during the interwar period on postcards published by the Kraków-based Salon of Polish Painters, which contributed to the artist's growing popularity.
