Tadeusz Cieślewski (Warszawa 1870 - 1956) – Polish painter. Father of graphic artist - Tadeusz Cieślewski. He studied in Warsaw under Wojciech Gerson and Jan Kauzik. In years 1895-96 he studied at Academie Vitti in Paris and in the studios of Edmont Aman-Jean and Robert Collin. In 1898 he was awarded with a silver medal for a postcard series with Warsaw views. In 1900 he traveled to Italy, where he studied at Rome Academy. From 1906 he was a member of Society for the Encouragement of the Fine Arts and member and president of the Pro Arte society. He was also a president of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. He took part in Polish exhibitions in Moscow in 1924 and at Venice Biennale in 1936, and in New York in 1939. He painted mostly cityscapes of Warsaw, but also landscapes, portraits and still lifes. His favorite technique was watercolor, sometimes pastels and oils. His works are in collections of National Museums in Warsaw and Poznań.
