A pair of candlesticks richly decorated with acanthus leaves and floral ornament; silver signed "MCE MAYER A PARIS".

Maurice Mayer was a highly regarded goldsmith of the 3rd quarter of the 19th century (active 1846 - until the 1870s), he designed stuff for the court of the Emperor Napoleon III. In 1855 he was awarded the 1st class medal.
