Max Hanemann (Łódź 1882 - 1944 ?) - Disciple of Leon Wyczółkowski and Teodor Axentowicz at Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (1907-8, 1911-13, 1919-20) and student at Warsaw Academy from 1916. He lived in Zakopane. In 1925 he traveled to the Near East - Palestine and Egypt, where he painted a lot of landscapes. He painted mostly Tatra views, genre scenes and portraits. Deported by Germans from Zakopane he returned to his hometown - Łódź, where he probably died. He was a member of the Association of Podhale Artists. He exhibited his works at Zachęta in Warsaw, in Kraków Society of Friends of Fine Arts and in Lviv, Łódź, Zakopane and Budapest. His works are now in collections of the Historical Jewish Institute in Warsaw, Tatra Museum in Zakopane and in private collections.
