Leszek Stańko (1924-2011) - son of landscape painter Michał Stańko. Like his father, he specialized in mountain landscapes—primarily the Tatra Mountains and the Beskid Mountains. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków under Wojciech Weiss, as well as Ignacy Pieńkowski and Fryderyk Pautsch (1945-1947). Initially, he worked at cartoon studios in Bielsko and Warsaw. Later, he returned to painting permanently. In 1956, he became a member of the Warsaw art group "Zachęta," formed by artists continuing the tradition of 19th-century realism.
