Juliusz Holzmüller (Bolechów 1876 - 1932 Lviv) - Polish painter. He attended the State Industrial School in Lviv for a course in decorative painting in the years 1897-1901, where he studied with R. Bratkowski, S. Rejchan, and T. Rybkowski. Then he studied at the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts in the studios of F. Cynka, J. Mehoffer and T. Axentowicz (1898-1906). In the years 1903-1904 he studied in Munich. After graduation, he settled permanently in Lviv. Most often he painted in watercolor technique, he also used sepia and ink. Holzmüller's favorite themes were landscapes, city views and genre scenes with horse motifs. Among his more well-known works include a series of paintings for the hunting pavilion of Prince Otto Habsburg in Rafajłowa, cycles with images of horses from great studs and battle paintings. He became famous as a painter performing battle sketches with the participation of Japanese cavalry in action; one of the watercolors on this subject was placed in the officers' casino in Tokyo. He exhibited a lot in Lviv and in Krakow's TPSP and Warsaw's Zachęta. His works are in museums in Kraków, Łańcut and Lviv.
