Jan Maksymilian Kasprowicz (1906 - 1986) - Polish painter, graphic artist, draftsman, professor at the State Higher School of Visual Arts (currently the Academy of Fine Arts) in Gdańsk. In the years 1928-1933 he studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Poznań. From 1935, he lived in Gdynia, where he taught at the private Pomeranian School of Fine Arts, Wacław Szczeblewski. In 1955 he obtained a diploma from the Gdansk State School of Fine Arts. In the years 1948-1959 he was a teacher of painting and drawing at the State Lyceum of Fine Arts in Gdynia-Orłowo; in the years 1951-1952 he ran the studio in the Department of Painting and Drawing at the Faculty of Architecture of the Gdańsk University of Technology. From 1952 to 1976 he worked at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdańsk; leading the Drawing Workshop at the Faculty of Painting and the Faculty of Interior Design. In the years 1962-1964 he was the deputy dean of the Faculty of Painting, and in 1968-1970 he was the dean of this faculty. He has had over a dozen individual exhibitions at home and abroad, and participated in around 40 collective exhibitions.
