In 1866 Fritz Heckert opened a glass decoration workshop on the site and then a glassworks in 1889. The creation and development of the railway line from Jelenia Góra to Piechowice in 1891 had enlivened the local glass-making. The historical glassware selling, especially those resembling an antic and an old-German patterns, was enjoying a huge popularity at that time. Fritz Heckert's fame was established by the production of an etched glass, a glass with threads of gold and a glass painted in the design that came from the Indian province called Jodphur.
