Friedrich Iwan (Kamienna Góra 1889 - 1967 Wangen) began his artistic training at the age of 14 at the Wrocław School of Fine Arts, where he studied from 1903 to 1908. He continued his studies from 1910 to 1914 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin-Charlottenburg. He fought for four years on the front lines of World War I. Wounded, he returned to Berlin. In 1921, after marrying, he moved to Karpacz, where he lived in Wilcza Poręba. In 1924, he bought a house in Jelenia Góra, where he lived until his displacement in 1946. He painted landscapes, mainly of the Karkonosze Mountains.
