Fraget (Jozef Fraget) – factory of silver-plated products founded in 1824 in Warsaw by Alfons and Jozef Fraget. Until the outbreak of the war in 1939, it produced cutlery and table accessories, so-called plates. In 1844 Josef Fraget bought a plot on Elektoralna Street, erected buildings there, reorganized and modernized factory production. A year later, at the Krakowskie Przedmiescie, a second shop was opened. After the war, a group of surviving workers reactivated the company, which was soon nationalized. A company was very well known for its exquisite design and good quality products. Before the war, it provided tablewares to European mansions, such as the king of Serbia, the king of Romania, and the Shah of Persia and the king of Afghanistan. Its products have won prizes at international exhibitions. Many European museums have Fraget table accessories in their collections, including The Royal Castle and the National Museum in Warsaw and also in Moscow and St. Petersburg museums.
