Description

Drinking set consists of carafe, 4 glasses and tray made of green glass hand painted with enamel paints with heraldic decorations. Height of carafe: 33 cm, height of glass: 14 cm, diameter of tray: 38 cm.

Founded in the 1800’s by Bedrich Egermann this glassware is produced in Novy Bor in the Czech Republic. Egermann Glass ranges from cut etched stained glass available in the famous red and yellow stain, but also in black and green which was sometimes hand painted enameled glassware. Bedrich invented new Lithyalin glass techniques in 1829 which had an opaque semi precious stone appearance with a marbled effect. Egermann glass was mostly known for the quality red cut glass staining invented by Bedrich Egermann in 1832 that made him very wealthy. The technique used elements such as copper ions added to the glass surface at high temperature to make a coloured glass layer that was uniform. Bedrich Egermann raised the world standard for glass making and won numerous awards.
