Attribution: Maria Waleria Podlewska (Płock 1862 - 1948 Kraków) – Polish painter. She studied at Adrian Baraniecki's Higher Courses for Women. Upon Jan Matejko's recommendation, after completing the second course, she taught drawing classes at Baraniecki's Courses. One of Podlewska's first major paintings is a copy of Jan Matejko's portrait of Karol Podlewski. From 1892 to 1893, Podlewska studied in Paris at the Académie Julian. After returning from abroad, she became a renowned portrait painter in Kraków. In 1918, she became secretary of the Association of Polish Women Artists in Lviv.
